I have limited Linux knowlege so I'm out of ideas and can't find any information that seems to help. Scanners and Linux. Using optical scanners with Linux. Here are my samples for my HP Scanjet 5p (or any HP scanner) File: /etc/sane.d/dll.conf. Sane-hp - SANE backend for HP ScanJet scanners. For these devices use the external 'hpoj' backend in version 0.90 and later of the 'HP OfficeJet Linux driver'. Are the packages 'libsane' and 'libsane-common' installed? Easiest way to check is to: menu > administration > software manager > enter user password at prompt > type 'libsane' (without quotes) into the search dialog box. If the packages are installed their icons will have a little checkmark in the lower right corner. If the packages are not installed, you can install them by double-clicking on the icon for each package. Might as well also install 'libsane-extras-common' although it's not strictly required.
